<br />\ <br /> <br />,... <br />,-,J <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />R E ~,Q. ~ !:! :!:. !Q. ~ <br /> <br />~ Q.. 885 8 <br /> <br />MAY 1 B 1981 <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING THE MEMORY OF SERGEANT <br />GEORGE GARRETT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council is extremely saddened by the <br /> <br />untimely passing of Sergeant George Garrett who was one of <br />the finest officers on the police force in the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City; and <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Garrett, who was a'highly trained and <br />courageous officer, was fatally wounded on Friday, May 8, 1981 <br />after heroically pushing a Bank of America employee out of <br />the line of fire during a robbery at the bank; and <br /> <br />~n{EREAS, Sergeant Garrett despite the demanding nature <br /> <br /> <br />of his responsibi~ities in the Police Department, always <br /> <br /> <br />found the time to work extensively with the youth of the <br /> <br />community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Garrett was entirely committed to~ <br />and always exhibited his deep concern for the safety and <br /> <br />welfare of his subordinates; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Garrett's commitment to the youth <br /> <br />of the community was exemplified by the countless hours <br />he spent talking to school groups and parental gatherings <br />about drugs and the harmful effect they have on the youth; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Garrett was an individual who was <br />devoted to, and excelled at, police work and serving his <br />fellow citizens, but most of all, George was a good friend - <br /> <br />someone the community could count on; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />This Council does hereby convey its deepest sympathy <br />and express its heartfelt condolences to the family of <br /> <br />8858 <br />
