Chestnut Street Reconstruction Project <br /> <br />Estimated Cost: <br /> <br />$1,000,000.00 <br /> <br />It is recommended that Chestnut Street, between Heller and <br /> <br />Veterans Boulevard, be-reconstructed to place the existing <br /> <br />railroad tracks in the center of the street, the sidewalks <br /> <br />reduced to allow a widened traveled way, and reconstruc- <br /> <br />tion of the roadway. Currently the railroad line runs <br /> <br />adjacent to the northerly side of Chestnut adjacent to a <br /> <br />parking lane. When trains are operating access to these <br /> <br />properties is not possible. <br /> <br />In addition, the ballasts <br /> <br />underneath the railroad tracks are in a state of failure <br /> <br />and the railroad tracks are settling to such a degree <br /> <br />that wheels of vehicles are being caught in the ruts formed. <br /> <br />8. Veterans Boulevard Reconstruction and Widening Project <br /> <br />Estimated Cost: <br /> <br />$500,000.00 <br /> <br />It is recommended that Veterans Boulevard, between Conven- <br /> <br />tion Way and Harbor Boulevard, be widened and resurfaced, <br /> <br />new street lights, sidewalks, and islands installed to <br /> <br />channelize traffic, and the roadway widened and resurfaced. <br /> <br />APG/fel <br />5/14/81 <br /> <br />-3- <br />
