<br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> <br />A. Proclamation - In Honor of Lifesaving Efforts at the Pacific Athletic Club- <br />James Skinner, Interim Fire Chief. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust spoke about the time limits and how she will ask everyone to respect the <br />three minutes time limit. The Mayor also requested that the utmost respect be shown <br />towards the speakers regardless of their views or perspective. Mayor Foust <br />acknowledged former Mayor and Council Member Jack Greenalch and his wife Barb in the <br />audience. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust reiterated that her motto is Redwood City Pride and tonight she is especially <br />proud of the Fire Department for the fact that James Lysgarrd who was at the Gym had <br />heart failure and was saved. The two lifesavers were present as well as the victim. Mayor <br />Foust thanked the lifesavers. Chief Skinner recognized the two heroes and commended <br />them for using the tools available to save lives. One of the heroes addressed the Council <br />and thanked the Council for the recognition. Chief Skinner addressed the public and <br />recommended that people learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Jason Culverhouse spoke on the Sequoia High School construction project, which has <br />already started, and opined that it is illegal with regard to environmental impacts and other <br />laws. He asked Council for help in getting them to comply with these laws. <br /> <br />Michael Grove thanked the Fire Department for its work, since he was once in need of <br />medical assistance, and also spoke to the Sequoia High School building project. He asked <br />for Council's help and support with his three objectives for the project. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust stated that through the City Manager, she understood the project was being <br />looked at and that next week's Council meeting would reflect this with information. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust pulled Consent Calendar item 6.2 A for a separate vote. <br /> <br />M/S Hartnett/Aguirre to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by <br />title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items with the exception <br />of item 6.2 A. Motion carries unanimously by a roll call vote. <br /> <br />M/S Bain/Aguirre to adopt the ordinance under 6.2 A. Motion carried unanimously with <br />three Council Members recused. The Council Members recused were Mayor Foust, and <br />Council Members Hartnett and Ira. Motion carries unanimously by a roll call vote with <br />three Council Members recused. <br /> <br />6.1 Section - Motions <br /> <br />A. Approve the Joint City Council and Redevelopment Agency Board meeting <br />minutes of April 14, 2008 as submitted.
