Exposure of adults to secondhand smoke has immediate adverse effects on

the cardiovascular system and causes coronary heart disease and lung

cancer;

. S'cientific evidence indicates that there is no risk-free level of exposure to

secondhand smoke; and

WHEREAS, secondhand smoke has been classified as a "toxic air contaminant"

by the California Air Resources Board; and

WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PReS)

Commission of the City of Redwood City and its Park Rules Enforcement Subcommittee

ATTY/ORO/ORD.312
012009

1
