From:
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: City Council Meeting 2.23.2021 Item 8A
Date: Monday, February 22, 20214:52:25 PM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when
opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders.
Item Agenda 8A Budgeting
I wish to make a public comment on this item. After reviewing tonight"s agenda there is no
staff recommendation for a Study Session on the RWC PD witch absorbs the largest amount
of taxpayer's money. We need to have a study session to justify every part of the multi million
dollar 30% of the budget. Not only am I requesting to know on what and how the money is
being spent also the negative impacts over Policing has on our working class communities.
I'm advocating that our Police Department serves equitably ALL members of Redwood City .
And for the City Council to take in to consideration last summer's listening sessions for what
the community wants.
On the topic of "Recommended New Appropriates "& Budget Development we need our
sidewalks repaired specially in the Stambaugh / Heller community as opposed to "clean them
up". There are elderly residents that un able to go for a walk in their neighborhood because
they are afraid of tripping and falling. Having them repaired will bring true permanent equity
to this neighborhood versus cleaning them is temporary and performative. Also repairing those
sidewalks will bring the area to ADA compliance.
Thank you for your time,
Marcelene Luna
