Council Member Bain showed a "Site Map" with many categories, and
recommended that the Council focus on two areas, "The first one is community"
which would list all the churches in the community, organizations, such as
Downtown Merchants, Service Clubs such as Lions, Kiwanis, Optimists,
Redwood City 2000, Redwood City International, Neighborhood Associations,
Chamber of Commerce, and links to other important Sites, such as the School
District and other non-profits. He said many non-profits could not afford their
own sites, and the City could help them by giving them space on our Site.
Council Member Bain said that the Government category could become a very
valuable site. He said Council agendas are already posted and recommended
that the Council Minutes be posted so people could really know what happened
at the meeting. He also suggested that historical material about the City and the
Council be posted, as well as information about boards, committees and
commissions, and the roles of the City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk.
Council Member Bain said the City Charter should also be posted.

CONSENSUS: Mayor Howard determined that it was the consensus of the
Council to pursue the direction recommended by Council Member Bain to add
value to the City's Web Site.

Arlyn C.
