<br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> <br />A. Mayor's Pride and Beautification Recognition Ceremony <br /> <br />Mayor Foust and Vice Mayor Howard recognized and thanked the Pride and <br />Beautification Committee and the City Manager's staff for their work on the twentieth <br />Pride and Beautification Recognition Ceremony. Vice Mayor Howard said this program is <br />designed to recognize community efforts to maintain, improve, beautify, foster civic pride, <br />and make a Redwood City better and more attractive place to live and work (Presentation <br />on file). City Council Members joined the Mayor and Vice Mayor at the front of the dais to <br />honor Mr. Pete Hughes. Vice Mayor Howard said that for the last ten years Mr. Hughes <br />has been the driving force to clean up the levies in Redwood Shores by first coming up <br />with the idea and then organizing and cultivating volunteers and local businesses to <br />support the effort. Council thanked Mr. Hughes for his many efforts. Mr. Hughes thanked <br />Council and recognized fellow volunteers for their work.
