Ma..na' . ell <br /> <br />February 23, 2009 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - 2007-2008 Sewer Main Replacement Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve, by motion, the 2007-2008 Sewer Main Replacement Project and authorize the <br />release of bonds and the retention according to city procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 23, 2008, Council awarded the construction contract for the 2007-2008 Sewer <br />Main Replacement Project to Sanco Pipelines, Inc. of Campbell for their low bid of <br />$765,746.32. The project is successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications. Three (3) change orders for a total credit of $44,655.50 resulting from <br />quantity adjustments were issued. The final contract amount is $721,090.82, and 6.2% <br />less than the contract amount initially awarded. <br /> <br />The 2007-2008 Sewer Main Replacement Project included rehabilitation of pipe <br />segments in the sewer basin bordered by Edgewood Road, Whipple Avenue, Alameda <br />de las Pulgas, and EI Camino Real. The project rehabilitated approximately 3,646 <br />linear feet of sewer main and replaced approximately 1 ,597 linear feet of 6-inch and 8- <br />inch pipeline. Both cured-in-place-pipe ("CIPP") trenchless technology and traditional <br />excavation methods were used. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of bonds and <br />retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and <br />public contracting code. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funding for this project has been approved and appropriated in the budget for Fiscal <br />Year 2007/2008, Sewer Fund Capital Projects, Collection System Replacement <br />Program which has an available balance of $798,902 as of December 31, 2008. <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Jimmy Tan.
