<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT 13.38 <br />-Page 4 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY TO ADOPT TH.E SAN MATEO COUNTY ENERGY STRATEGY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City ("City") is committed to reducing <br /> <br />greenhouse gas emissions and taking action on climate change; and <br /> <br />. WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Energy Strategy identifies five main goals <br /> <br />with associated actions related. to renewable energy and energy efficiency, water <br /> <br /> <br />conservation and new sources of water, collaboration between cities and with utilities, <br /> <br />. economic development opportunities, and promoting leadership; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Energy Strategy reinforces the City's <br /> <br />Environmental I nitiatives, energy efficiency and water conservation efforts and also <br /> <br />provides information and resources that support the City's current climate action <br /> <br />planning efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, the Utility and Sustainability Task Force, an ad hoc committee of the <br /> <br />Congestion Management and Environmental Quality Committee of the City/County <br /> <br />Association of Governments (C/CAG), was chartered in 2006 to develop a countywide <br /> <br />energy strategy that would consider the county's future energy and infrastructure needs <br /> <br />and recommend how to address these needs in an economically, socially, and <br /> <br />environmentally responsible manner; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City received a draft County Energy Strategy in September 2008 <br /> <br />for comment and provided feedba~k to the County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the final County Energy Strategy was completed in November 2008 <br /> <br />and approved py the County Board of Supervisors .and C/CAG Board of Directors; and <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />A TIY/RESOIRESO.1884 <br />021009 <br />
