going on. Another suggestion was to connect with the Santa Clara County Caltrain <br /> Board of directors. It was suggested that an official document be created outlining <br /> what we know. Council concurred with Mayor Foust sending a letter in <br /> support of an MOU between High Speed Rail and Caltrain. Council <br /> consensus was that a copy of the letter be sent to the other Mayor's in San <br /> Mateo County. <br /> One Council Member supported a resolution promoting the tentative MOU. It was <br /> suggested that an article be included in the next newsletter notifying the residents <br /> of what is coming. Vice Mayor Howard supported outreach to the community and <br /> adding this as a red flag item under Matters of Council Interest so that it stays in the <br /> radar screen. There was consensus that the subcommittee will state when this <br /> should be on the agenda. Mayor Foust thanked everyone present for commenting. <br /> 9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Legislation (information only) - This sub-section involves possible discussion of <br /> City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California Cities <br /> Priority Focus Bulletin No. 3-2009 and 4-2009. Council may direct staff to act on <br /> positions taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus <br /> available in City Clerk's Department). <br /> B. Council Reports on Committee Meetings Attended. <br /> 1. Council Member Aguirre - Attended the Education Committee meeting at the <br /> Chamber of Commerce. Announced an upcoming event on April 24 at the <br /> Pacific Athletic club being organized by the Education Foundation. <br /> 2. Council Member Bain - Attended a C/CAG meeting and the matter on the <br /> agenda passed unanimously. The item on the agenda related to the <br /> economic stimulus package and Redwood City submitted a list of projects. <br /> Redwood City could potentially receive up to $1.2 million. <br /> 3. Council Member Hartnett — Reported that he serves on the ALS (Advanced <br /> Life Support) Joint Powers Authority Board and stated that tonight that body is <br /> considering a new agreement for the ambulance provider in the County. Once <br /> approved, should it pass, it will come to each of the cities for ratification. <br /> 4. Council Member Ira - Reported on the city applying for certain funds from the <br /> Water and Sewer funds. <br /> 5. Council Member Pierce — Sits on the Housing and Community Committee <br /> meeting and they discussed the issue of SB 375 and the League of CA Cities <br /> is forming a Water Taskforce. <br /> 6. Vice Mayor Howard — Said that on March 18 Sustainable San Mateo County is <br /> giving out awards and she will be in attendance and the City of Redwood City <br /> will be receiving one award for civic engagement. The Traffic Congestion <br /> Alliance will also get an award. <br /> 7. Mayor Foust — Attended a technical presentation on SB 375 from the League <br /> of CA cities.
