<br />6.1G <br />Page 20 <br /> <br />Data sources for this analysis are mainly: employee projections for the Project as provided by <br />the applicant or developed by KMA, US Census data and national and state surveys of parent <br />preferences and practices related to childcare utilization by type of arrangement and location. <br />The national and state surveys may be adjusted fo~ the demographics of the new employees <br />specific to the proposed project. These data are supplemented by local data and project-specific <br />data, as available. <br /> <br />The conclusion of the analysis is expressed as children "demanding" different types of child <br />care, by age classification. A child care center facility is one of the types of child care addressed <br />in the analysis and thus one conclusion wilt be demand for child care center "spaces" in the <br />project area. <br /> <br />2. Child Care Demand Analysis for Surrounding Residential Neighborhood <br /> <br />This analysis would be designed to tink and quantify the demand for childcare associated with <br />the residents in the surrounding neighborhood. KMA would work with the City's Childcare <br />Coordinator to obtain the necessary data. <br /> <br />The conclusions of this analysis with respect to demand for child care center spaces may be <br />aggregated with the project generated demand to determine total demand for a child care center <br />located in the project area. <br /> <br />3. Child Care Center Demand and Supply Evaluation (Optional/Fee Included in Scope) <br /> <br />KMA will work with the City's Childcare Coordinator to obtain data on the balance between the <br />demand for, and the supply of, child care spaces in Redwood City by age group. Available City <br />information will be used to document whether the existing supply is sufficient to meet the needs <br />of the surrounding neighborhood. <br /> <br />Product: Draft technical memorandum, featuring graphics and tables. Upon completion of all <br />tasks, the memorandum will be incorporated into a final report. <br /> <br />E. Housing Impact Analysis <br /> <br />1. Housing Needs Analysis - by Affordability Level <br /> <br />KMA will prepare a housing needs analysis that will quantify, by affordability level, the housing <br />demand associated with all phases of the proposed Project. KMA has prepared similar analyses <br />for medical facilities in the cities of San earlosT Menlo Park and Palo Alto (also a Stanford <br />University project), as well as for housing nexus fee studies in many cities. Roughly frfteen years <br />ago, KMA developed a proprietary model to perform the nexus analysis and allocate <br />households into affordability levels using local, state and federal data sources.
