The Public Works Services
Department submitted an Urban Forestry Inventory Concept Application and was
informed on January 9, 2009 that the Concept Application was deemed eligible for the
next step in the application proc~ss, submission of a full grant request. As part of the
full grant request, the City Council should adopt a resolution in support of the grant
request. The actual inventory services will be performed by a qualified contractor who
will collect specific information as required in the grant application. ",;

ALTERNATIVES'" It
Do not adopt this resolution which may potentiallY affect the acceptance of: the City's
grant application. . ;; :.!'

FISCAL IMPACT

Although there is not direct cost associated with adopting this resolution, the estimated
cost of the inventory of all 31,000 trees' is approximately $107,000.00. Funding from the
Tree Preservation and Sidewalk Replacement Program may provide the additional
resources to make up the difference between the grant award and the cost of inventory
services. Staff will return to the City Council at a later date to seek approval for
contracting for inventory services.

1J7l4)".;?gLL~

Michael Glbbons
Public Works Superintendent

~

Peter Ingram ~
City Manager

ATTACHMENTS
Resolution

RELATED DOCUMENTS IN CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
None
