<br />7A <br />ATrACHMENT I Page 3 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF UP TO $123,205 IN <br />FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009 SUPPLEMENTAL LAW <br />ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUNDS (COPS) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, for the thirteenth consecutive year, the Redwood City Police <br />Department has received a State COPS grant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the money must be used to supplement existing services and <br />may not be used to supplant any existing funding for law enforcement services; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the exact amount of grant award will be determined after May <br />19. 2009 due to issues with the State budget, but the anticipated amount of the <br />grant is between $100,000 and $123,205; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the Police Chief's recommendation that half of the grant <br />funds of up to $61,602.50 of this year's award be allocated to the salaries and <br />benefits of police officer positions approved by the City Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Police Chief is also recommending that the remaining half <br />of the grant funds of up to $61,602.50 be dedicated to the acquisition of <br />equipment and supplies needed by the Police Department. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. That expenditure of up to $123,205.00 from State COPS grant <br />funds is hereby authorized for the 2008-2009 supplemental law enforcement <br />services funds. <br /> <br />2. That an amount of up to $61,602.50 of this year's award be <br />allocated to the salaries and benefits of police officer positions and that the <br />remaining funds of up to $61,602.50 will be dedicated to the acquisition of <br />equipment and supplies. <br /> <br />ATTY/RESO/RESO.1894 <br />033109 <br />
