<br />Exhibit "e" <br /> <br />STORM DRAIN SYSTEM MAINTENANCE <br /> <br />Storm drains and BMPs throughout the proj ect will function best if the <br />amount of sediment entering the system is kept to a minimum. The <br />construction schedule should result in a low erosion potential and will help to <br />reduce the overall amount of sediment generated within the drainage area, <br />particularly after landscaping has been established. Many of the routine best <br />management practices (BMPs) implemented under the National Pollutant <br />Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) permit for San Mateo County will <br />work to reduce sediment production mobilization within the project. Among <br />the most important will b~: <br /> <br />· Regular Street Sweeping. Regular street sweeping can have a significant <br />impact on the control of such constituents of concern as trash and debris, <br />particulates, and heavy metals. All onsite streets and parking areas should <br />be swept on a regular basis to control the build-up of sediment and trash <br />with particular attention to the early fall period prior to the onset of the <br />winter rainy season. Street Sweeping schedules will follow San Mateo <br />County standards, but should not be less than monthly in the dry season. <br /> <br />· Inlet and Catch Basin Cleaning. Stormwater inlets and catch basins can <br />function as effective sediment traps for heavier materials. Therefore, these <br />structures will need to be maintained and cleaned on at least an annual <br />basis. Typical maintenance schedules for these activities include a <br />thorough inspection and cleaning in late summer or early fall and a mid- <br />winter inspection to identify any new problems that may have arisen. <br /> <br />· The Operation and Maintenance Designee will maintain a log of the <br />inspection and cleaning operations of the system. The log shall be made <br />available to the local regulatory agency having jurisdiction regarding <br />storm water discharge. <br /> <br />MOSQUITO ABATEMENT <br /> <br />In BMPs with standing water, which could provide mosquito breeding habitat, <br />certain abatement measures can be taken. <br /> <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
