MayO:r and City C.o.uncil <br />F.rom: th.e Of" Man.. ., <br /> <br />May 18, 2009 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - Redwood Shores Slurry Seal Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the Redwood Shores Slurry Seal Project, and authorize the release <br />of bonds and the retention according to city procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 11, 2008, Council awarded the construction contract for the Redwood <br />Shores Slurry Seal Project to Graham Contractors Inc. of San Jose. The project was <br />awarded for a base bid of $775,119.30. Construction began in September, 2008. The <br />project is successfully completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. One <br />(1) change order crediting $80,232.89 back to the city was issued. The final contract <br />amount is $694,886.41 which is 10.35% less than the contract amount initially awarded. <br /> <br />Change orders resulted from quantity adjustments including a reduction in pavement <br />area to be resurfaced, deletion of some traffic loop detectors and traffic signs, and <br />additional repair work necessitated by field conditions. <br /> <br />This project resurfaced approximately 220,000 square yards of roadway area roughly <br />bordered by Shearwater Parkway to the north, Redwood Shores Parkway to the east <br />and south, and Twin Dolphin Drive to the west. <br /> <br />Ai. TERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project or not to authorize the release of bonds <br />and retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, <br />and public contracting code. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funding for this construction agreement has been previously approved by Council and <br />appropriated from the W8ier Bond Projects Fund - Recycled Water System <br />Development, the Traffic Mitigation Fees Fund - BicyclelPedestrian Enhancement <br />Program, and the Traffic Calming Program. <br /> <br />'~~~~~A/~ <br />M.
