On March 12,2009, the Civil Grand Jury filed its report with the
County Superior Court pertaining to the traffic safety effectiveness of red light cameras
in Redwood City. The report concluded, among other things, that that the decision to
install the inaugural camera system was supported by data collected by the police
department, and that the number of collisions at the intersection of Whipple Avenue and
Veterans Boulevard has decreased. The report also made six recommendations to the
City Council. The Court wrote that the City must submit comments regarding the
report's findings and recommendations to the Court no later than June 10, 2009, and
that the respOnse must be approved by City Council at its regular meeting. The
response ~o the Grand Jury is submitted for your approval.

ALTERNATIVES
N/A

FISCAL IMPACT
N/A

)

~~CA-

Chris Cesena
Police Captain

Peter Ingram
City Manager

ATTACHMENTS
1.
