Weare neighbors who live at 1600 Union Avenue. Our backyard will border the row of two-story homes to be constructed just 15 feet from our backyard fence. We have some serious concerns about the placement of the buildings being so close to our fence and also that they will be two-stories high. Our home is a single-story building and sits approximately 50' from our backyard fence and most of our neighbors' homes do as well. With buildings so close to our fence line, we will lose all of our afternoon SW1. We have a beautiful garden with plants and vegetables, this will alter the entire backyard. Also, in reviewing the plans, they are calling for a retaining wall which will raise the new project higher than my property. We already have water problems in the winter from that property. By installing the retaining waIl, it's going to create a catch basin for the water coming on to my property causing flooding. Add to this the fact that there will be less sunlight in our yard to dry out the water soaked ground. The environmental impact to our property will be devastating. In reviewing the plans, building 24 units on 1-1/2 acres does not represent what was built in the neighborhood in the past. We moved to Redwood City 26 years ago for the open space and privacy of the neighborhood. The buildings are not going to adhere to local codes and restrictions which compromises the quality of life for all neighbors. I would like the new building site to be built under the same local codes that the entire neighborhood has adhered to and not to have variances that put too many homes on a
