Work occurred on sidewalks in front of 242 parcels on Maddux, Hempstead,
Alameda, Fernside, Mitchell, Granger, Sterling, Ethyl Ct., Muller Ct and Goodwin Ave.
All of the work required during this contract has been performed to City standards. The
work performed exceeded the original contract amount by $30,533.51 or approximately
3.90/0. The additional work was performed at the direction of City staff in order to
complete the remaining parcels on one block rather than leave just a few parcels to be
completed during the next project period. Of note during this contract period was the
expanded use of poured-in-place rubber sidewalk, diverting over 3,083 recycled
passenger car tires from the landfill. Very few negative comments were received
regarding the rubber sidewalks and only very minor cutting of small tree roots was
performed. Sections of rubber sidewalk were installed in front of over 160 homes, and
31 concrete ADA curb ramps were installed. The llSuccession Tree Planting" effort
resulted in 20 tree removals and we plan to install at least 27 replacement trees during
an upcoming CityTrees planting event.

AL TERNA TIVES
City Council could decide to not accept this project. The work has been completed to
specifications and the contractor has performed well in the completion of the project.
The contractor is due their retention amount.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for this payment are available and have been encumbered in the Capital
Improvement Program, Tree Preservation and Sidewalk Repair Program.
/;l.']' ,.. j/'~ /.~ ;~.;}'( j -'I
/v/.I'l, . ./ ,,;/1 ft......;,! jI t/
J.' v'-'< .' 1.1;' ..;.\ j,. .....
