5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY— <br /> A. Presentation: Hall of Fame at Sequoia High School (video) — Mike Kuliga, <br /> Department Chair, Electronic Arts Academy <br /> Mr. Kuliga provided some background information on the project and the multi-media <br /> production. Mayor Foust asked the producer, Jimmy, to address the Council and the <br /> community. He thanked all those who worked on this video. One Council Member who <br /> was a member of the class of 68 thanked the presenters and explained that Sequoia <br /> symbolizes Redwood City Pride. <br /> B. Presentation: Target Family Days — Lori Popovich, Redevelopment Analyst <br /> Ms. Popovich announced that Target is supporting three Target Family Days. Andi <br /> Wolpert and Kleinsasser with Target presented a check in the amount of$30,500 to the <br /> City of Redwood City to cover the costs of the events. The Mayor and the Council <br /> expressed their gratitude. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> MOTION: Waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, adopt <br /> the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. <br /> Cherlene Wright spoke about an upcoming Housing Expo 09 organized by SAMCAR. The <br /> event will take place at the San Mateo County Expo Center and she provided dates and <br /> times. It will be a free event. <br /> Dan Fillin thanked Council Members who have been speakers at his leadership class. He <br /> asked for people who would like to become leaders to contact him and he thanked the <br /> Council for being as accessible as they are. Mayor Foust said she really appreciated the <br /> opportunity and she thanked Mr. Fillin for being a community leader. <br /> Julie Wesoleck with the Sequoia YMCA reported that the pool is much improved. She <br /> said that they had 420 kids participate on the free splash program. She thanked the <br /> Council for its support. <br /> Clem Molony made comments on how the Sequoia YMCA is helping members from the <br /> community. He explained that they will offer three free months of inembership to anyone <br /> who has lost their job. Mr. Molony thanked the Council for the Community Development <br /> Block Grant. <br /> M/S Pierce/Ira to approve the Consent Calendar except for item 6.2B. Motion carries 6-0 <br /> by electronic vote with Vice Mayor Howard absent. <br /> Agency Action 6.2 B 1 — Council Member Hartnett commented that he is frustrated and <br /> disappointed that the state is taking away local funds. <br /> M/S Hartnett/Bain to approve Agenda 6.2 B 1.
