For more, see <br />Page 2. <br /> <br />.................................... <br /> <br />MUNICIPAL BANKRUPTCY BILL MOVES OFF ASSEMBLY FLOOR <br /> <br />AB 155 (Mendoza) moved off the Assembly floor on Wednesday, June 3 on a 47-25 vote and <br />now moves to the Senate. The bill would require local agencies contemplating bankruptcy to first <br />obtain approval from the California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission (CD lAC) prior to <br />filing for bankruptcy. Recent amendments would also authorize CDIAC to charge local <br />governments a fee to cover the costs associated with rendering a decision as to whether a <br />municipality would be granted the ability to file for bankruptcy.
