To t��.f�o��.r�►����e:l'���.�r ���:�i�.,±C�_u.���f <br /> . :�r�m ��e �i ��::�la�� � e� <br /> June 22, 2009 <br /> SUBJECT � <br /> Final Acceptance — Lakeview Pump Sta#ion Improvements Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION .. <br /> Accept, by motion, the Lakeview Pump Stafion Improvements Project and authorize the <br /> release of bonds and retention accarding to city procedures. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> �n March 24, 2008, Council awarded the cons#ruction con#ract for the Lakeview Pump <br /> Station lmpro�ements Project to Casey Constru�ion, Inc. for theEr low bid of <br /> $54fi,�58.00. The pro�ect is successfu�ly compieted in accordance with the plans and <br /> specifications. Eight (8} change orders totaling $42,fi14.00 {?.8% of the contract value) <br /> were issued. The �na! cost is $588,772.QQ. Change orders resulted #rom unfareseen <br /> �eld conditions. <br /> Several unexpected challenges were met during construc#ion af this projec�t. The <br /> variable f�equency d�ves that regu[ate #he pump speeds for efficient use of the pumps <br /> were discovered to require cooling. The air conditioning unit needed to coo{ the <br /> electrical components was delayed in the manufacturing process. Delivery o# the <br /> permanent standby engine generafor for emergency power was as we�l deiayed aimos# <br /> eighteen weeks. Th�e L.ake�iew Pump Station is operational, impro�ed, and in use. <br /> The pump station is now capable of supplying water to the Emerald Lake Hi11s area in <br /> the event of an emergency and con�eying water from #he Lakeview Reservoir to prevent <br /> water qua�ity issues in the fufiure. The improvements of this praject pro�ide operations <br /> s#aff with tools to pr�esenre #he water quali#y within the resenroir by allowing water a#the <br /> bottom of the tank better opportunity #o circulate. Improvements included providing a <br /> new struc#ure to enclose the pump s#ation (pump control vai�es and piping}, variable <br /> frequency dri�es, and a stand-by engine generator foc use during power outages. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to accep# the contract which would be contrary to prior Council <br /> action. <br /> F�sca�iM�acT <br /> Funding for this project has been approved and appropria#ed and appears in the FY <br /> 2008/09 budge# as#he 1Na#er Fund Capital Projects, Lakeview Pump House. <br />
