6.3B <br /> Page 1 <br /> REPURT � <br /> To the Honorable Ma�yor and City Council <br /> From the Ci AAana er <br /> June 22, 2049 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Summary vacation of a pottion of Public Service Easement to accommodate proposed <br /> construction at 500 and 6�0 Saginaw Drive - Seaport Center �ffice Park. <br /> RECQMMENDATION <br /> Summarily vacate, by resolut�on, a portion of a Pubfic Service Easement ovec the lands <br /> of Slough Redwood Ci�y LLC, pursuant to Section 8333 of the state Stree#s and <br /> Highways Code to accommodate the proposed impro�e�nen�s at Seaport Centre office <br /> park. <br /> BACKGROUIVD <br /> Subdivision maps recorded in August '#987 for Seaport Centre filed in Volume 117 <br /> Pages 17-26 granted the City of Redwood City easements for utility maintenance <br /> purposes. These easements include provisions for access ta utiiities including water, <br /> storm sewe�, and san�ary sewer which #he City is required to maintain. The proposed <br /> construction at 5Q0 Saginaw Drive (see Attachment 3), includes rema�al of the existing <br /> sanitary sewer (ine and structure. As a result, a 13 foot wide portion of the Public <br /> Service Easement on the southwesterly corner of Lot 5 as shown on Page 25 of Vo�ume <br /> 117, ss no longer needed for maintenance access and can be abandoned. <br /> The project site is located in the Industrial Park Zvning District at 500 Saginaw Drive <br /> and 600 Saginaw Drive. The proposed scope of work includes construction of a new <br /> lobby connector, trash enclosure, generator storage room, additional storage area, <br /> accessible walkways, parking stalls, and minor water, sanitary sewer a�d storm sewer <br /> improvemen#s. There are currently two sanitary structures and a line that connects the <br /> finro structures, within the public service easement. The new building design will redir�ct <br /> the sanitary sewer lines within the building to one structure, therefore ob�iating the need <br /> for one af the two structures and the line which connects them. The storage rooms and <br /> trash enciosure are proposed for construction in the �acated easement area. The <br /> redirected sanitary sewer lines wiil be contained within the building and wifl be privately <br /> maintained and therefore requires no public service easement. <br /> ALTERNATiVES <br /> Counci! may choose not to vacate easements which wou(d prevent or delay the project. <br /> FISCAI.IMPACT <br /> There is no fiscal impact to the City resul#ing from this action. <br />
