7A <br /> Page 5 <br /> RESO�uT�oN No. <br /> A RESOLUTI4N OF THE CITY OF REDW40D CITY ADC)PTING <br /> FINDtNGS FOR PURP4SES OF THE CAL[�ORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> QUALITY ACT IN CONNECTIC�N 'WITH APPROVAL �F A WATER <br /> SUPPLY AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY 4F SAN <br /> FRANCiSCO <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City �City) purchases water from the City and <br /> County of San Francisco {San Francisco} pursuanfi to a 5ettlement Agreement Master <br /> Water Sale Contrac�entered info in '{984, which wii! expire on June 30, 2009; and <br /> WHEREAS, the San Francisco Pub�ic Utilities Commission (SFPUG or <br /> Cornmission} operates the Regional Water System which delivers water to communities <br /> in Alameda, San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, as well as to cus#vmers within San <br /> Francisco; and <br /> WHEREAS, engineering reports prepared by and for the S�PUC staff identified <br /> serous de�iciencies in the Regionaf Water System which exposed its Bay Area <br /> Cus#omers to the threat of an extended interruption in water delivery in the event of a <br /> major earthquake; and <br /> WHEREAS, acting in response to directions from the State Legislature <br /> (California Water Code Section 735�0 et seq.), in 2002 the SFPUC adopted a Water <br /> Sys#em Improvement Program (WSIP) to address these deficiencies, ensure the <br /> Regional Water System's ability to deli�er water meeting Safe Drinking Water Act <br /> standards, and otherwise improve the Regional Water System's capabilities of ineeting <br /> customer needs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the San Francisco Planning Depar#ment prepared a Program <br /> Environmental Impac# Report (PEIR} to evaluate the potential environmentai impacts of <br /> Atty/ResolResa.1923 <br /> osasas � <br />
