<br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />CALL FOR BIDS FOR LEASE OF BAND INSTRUMENTS: <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer K. A. Greerwood and <br />Warrant Officer Robert Lo White of the United States Navy <br />t,./ 1 <br />have offered to lease nine (9) band instruments owned by <br />this city for use by the Construction Battalion of the <br />United States Navy in the South Pacific for the duration of <br /> <br />the war and six months thereafter; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council is willing to entertain an <br /> <br />offer therefor; <br />RESOLVED that a notice be published once a week for <br /> <br />two weeks calling for bids for the leasing of said instru- <br />ments for said period, in a newspaper requiring bids to be <br />submitted to this Council for its consideration at its next <br /> <br />meeting on December 6, 1'343, at 8:00 o'clock P. mo; that the <br /> <br />conditions of such proposed lease shall be'that said instru- <br /> <br /> <br />ments shall be used only within the state of California and <br /> <br />given ordinary care, any defects of said instruments now or <br />hereafter occurring shall be repairedjand a bond in the some <br />of $110000 for the safe return of said instruments in as good <br /> <br />condition as at present, shall be required, unless the United <br />states Navy shall be the highest and best bidder therefor, in <br />which event no bond shall be required and said instruments <br />may be taken out of the State of California; prohibiting any <br />assignment of such lease and authorizing the City Council to <br /> <br />require the return of said instruments forthwith if any rental <br /> <br />therefor is unpaid for fifteen (15) days after same becomes due; <br /> <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day <br /> <br />of November, 1943, by the following vote: <br />Ayes and in favor of the passage of the foregoing <br /> <br />-1- <br />
