<br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />NO. 158 <br /> <br />EXPRESSING THE COUNCIL 1 S REGRET THAT MR. HENRY <br />WITTE SHOULD BOTH RESIGN FROM THE PLANNING COM- <br />MISSION AND DECLINE TO CONTINUE AS INSURANCE <br />BROEER OR AGENT. <br /> <br />RESOLVED that this City Council express to Mr. Henry <br />Witt~ its sincere regret over the circumstances and misunder- <br />standings attending the determination that Mr. Witta is inad- <br />vertently but innocently acting contrary to Section 77 of the <br />Charter of this city in continuing his memb~rship on the City <br />Planning Commission and concurrently acting as broker or agent <br />in the placing of insurance of said city; further that this <br />Council is fully cognizant of the fact that at Mr. Witte's <br />request the former City Attorney rendered an opinion wherein <br />he held that such dual position was not a violation of the <br />Charter section; .that this Council does hereby assure Mr. <br />Witte not only that there was no irregularity or wrong-doing <br />in his handling of this city's insurance, business while a <br />member of the Planning Commission, but that on the contrary <br />this Council and every member thereof is 'deeply appreciative <br />of the exceptionally fine, generous service rendered by Mr. <br />Witte- in the supervision of this city's insurance matters' <br />with little or no actual compensation to him personally;~ and <br />also that this Council is fully conscious of, and hereby <br />re cognizes' the zealous, in telligen t and self-sacrificing <br />public service rendered by Mr. Witte as a member of the Plan- <br />ning Commission for eighteen years. <br /> <br />The above and foregoing resolution was passed <br />and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a <br />regular meeting thereof held on the 5th day of February, 1945, <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes and in favor of the passage and adoption of <br />the foregoing resolution: <br /> <br />Councilmen :- <br /> <br />GRANGER, McN~TY, HILTON. <br /> <br />ARMS'l'RONG, BRITSCHGI, FLETCHER, <br /> <br />Noes and against the passage and adoption of the <br />foregoing resolution: Councilmen: NONE. <br /> <br />Absen t: <br /> <br />Councilmen~ WW~ <br /> <br />- Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br /> <br />Attest: . ~/ <br /> <br />qlerk~ City of Redwood City <br /> <br />I hereby approve the foregoing resolution this 5th <br />day of February, 1945. <br /> <br />U1-W~) <br /> <br />Mayor of' tn, City of Redwocrl Ci ty <br />
