<br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, discharged veters_Ds ot WORLD WAR *2 are now returning to <br />civilian life, and will continue to do 80 1n steadily in- <br /> <br />creasing numbers, and <br />WHEREAS, it is to be expected that many ot the 3,000 men and <br /> <br />women from this area, in addition to thousands of others trom <br /> <br /> <br />various parts of San Mateo County now 1n the armed forces, <br /> <br /> <br />will be returning to this County, at the conclusion of their <br /> <br />military service, and <br />WHEREAS, in recognition.of the need for some central source ot <br />information, to direct the veteran to the various Federal <br />and State agencies that have been set up to administer certain <br />benefits for veterans as provided by law, and to assist in the <br />adjustment of their personal problems, twenty two counties in <br />the State of California have appointed Veterans Service Officers, <br />whose responsibility it is to assist eX-service men and women <br />in this manner, and <br />WHEREAS, there does not exist in San Mateo County at the present <br />time, an official center where complete information on all <br />vetera.ns t . right s and. privileges ce..n be obtained, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the CITY COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY does hereby <br />respectfully recommend to the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF SAN MATEO <br />COUNTY, the appointment of a full time VETERANS' SERVICE <br />OFFICER, to serve veterans residing permanently or temporarily <br />1n the County, in obtaining the benefits to which they are <br />entitled under existing law, or those which may be legislated <br />1n the future. <br />u../h-12:;,/ ~. s- /~ y J- . <br />!t.u ~ ~,. p~,{ .~/~: L_ ~~-/~ / <br />"4 V---~~ ~ / I~---'-I ~.
