<br />RES 0 I~ UTI 0 N NO. 209 <br /> <br />REQU~STING .BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO STOP PRACTICE <br />OF FORTUNE TELLING, ETC. IN UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br /> <br />has for many years had in effect within said city a license <br /> <br />ordinance, the terms of which prescribe a high rate of li"cense <br /> <br />for fortune tellers, clairvoyants, mediums, astrologers and others <br /> <br />of similar character, which has tended to keep out of said city <br /> <br />the conduct of such types of business; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, recently there has become prevalent a practice <br /> <br />of such fortune tellers, clairvoyants, mediums, astrologers of <br /> <br />locating their places of business within thennincorporated ter- <br /> <br />ritory adjacent to the bOlLYldaries of said crity; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the belief of this City Council that the <br /> <br />presence of s~ch ~rsons conducting such all~ged types of busin- <br /> <br />ess a~jacent to said city is detrimental to the welfare of said <br /> <br />ci ty; <br /> <br />RESOLVED that this Council -does heI~eby request the <br /> <br />Board of Sure rvisors of San NIa teo Co~ ty to take proceedings to <br /> <br />discourage or stop the conduct of such types of business in <br /> <br />areas adjacent to this city; <br /> <br />FURTHER RESOL:VED that '8 <:copy, of this resolution <br />certified by the CHk of this City be sent to the Board of <br /> <br />Supervisors of San Mat~o Oounty. <br /> <br />Passed and "adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of June, <br /> <br />1945, by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilmen: Anderson, Armstrong, Britschgi, <br /> <br />Granger, McNulty and Hilton. <br /> <br />Noes: Councilmen: None. <br /> <br />Absent: Councilmen: <br /> <br />Fletcher <br /> <br />Attest:~~ <br />Clerk'of the City of Redwood City <br /> <br />Mayor of theCity of Redwood City <br />I hereb~ approve the foregoin~ <br />resolutlo.n. ~hi~....t.~.".'~.y_ ( o.f uune, <br />1945.~.@~ <br /> <br />IVIayo'r 0 -'the ~C i ty of Redwood Ci ty <br />
