This action is consistent wittPage 2 <br />the direction given by City Council to retain all the text and maps related to this site that <br />were in the 1990 General Plan and carry them forward in the New General Plan. Thus <br />the New General Plan proposes DQ changes to the 1990 General Plan text and maps as <br />it relates to the Cargill property. <br /> <br />Some of the chapters and elements such as Building Community still need to be <br />reviewed by several BCCs. Also staff is preparing a response to State comments on the <br />first Draft Housing Element. <br /> <br />NEXT STEPS <br />The General Plan chapters and elements will continue to be vetted with various BCCs <br />and the public. On July 28, the Housing and Human Concerns Committee will review the <br />Building Community Chapter of the New General Plan. On August 6, a large joint study <br />session will be held with Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, Civic <br />Cultural Commission, Senior Affairs Commission and the Library Board. The New <br />General Plan team anticipates that the entire New General Plan will be finalized in a <br />high quality draft format ready for adoption hearings in the fall in October.
