<br />March 14, 1946 <br />MEMORANDUM ON WEED ABATEJ.VlENT <br /> <br />WEED ABATE~mNT PROCEDURE- Redwood City Improvement Procedure <br />Ordhance No. 333, adopted March 14,1932, Article V: Reference <br />to Weed Abatement Act of 1915 as in force Jan 1, 1931, including <br />amendment to Section 7 Statutes of 192?, page 345. <br />Notices to abate weeds must be posted by the Superin- <br />tendnet of Streets, 100 feet apart, at least five (5) days before <br />the date of hearing objections. (S-H Code Section 14875, 14894, <br />14895: Statutes 1915, page 841, Chap 511; D.A. 5197). <br />Any property owner has the right to ha.ve weeds removed <br />at his expense, if done prior to arrival of Street Superintendent, <br />or his representatives, to do the same. (Sec. 5). <br />The street Superintendent shall keep account of the cost <br />of abating such nuisa.nce in front of each separate parcel of land <br />and shall render an itemized report to the council showing the <br />cost thereof. Copy of such report must be posted near the Council <br />Chamber door at least three (3) days prior to the presentation to <br />the council, together with a notice of the time when the report <br />will be submitted to the Council for confirmation. (Sec. 6). <br />At the time fixed for considering the report, the <br />Council shall hear the same and any objections by any property <br />owner liable for assessment and modify or confirm the report. The <br />charges for removing' weeds constitutes a special assessment against <br />parcels of land. After confirmation of the report, a copy shall be <br />turned 'over to the Assessor and Tax Collector of the Ci ty, who shall <br />add the amotUlts thereof to the next regular tax bills' (Sec. 7) <br />
