Introduction DMB Redwood City Saltworks ("Saltworks° or "Saltworks Team") is pleased to present to the elected officials, residents, and the staff of the City of Redwood Gity ("City") the culmination of over three years of community engagement, outreach, and dialog: the Salfinrorks 50/5� Balanced P1an. This C>venriew is a summary of the 50/50 Balanced Pian as presented in the filings with the City., With equal commitments to the estabiishment of community open space/ecological restoration and the creation of a model transit-oriented, sustainable community, the 50/50 Balanced Plan reflects, we believe, #he priorities and vision of Redwood City as articulated by the overwhefming majority af the more than 14,0�00 participants in #he �altworks outreach process. The 50/50 Balanced Pfan is for #he future of the 1,436-acre property within the City north of U.S. 10'! and east of Seaport Boulevard and the Por� of Redwood City, currently operating -- as much of it has for over 'I0� years — as an active industrial salt harvesting facility for Cargil! Sa1t {"Saltworks Site" or "Site"; see attached Site Overviewj. Under the 50/5C� Balanced Plan, at least half of the Saltworks Site would be utilized for communi#y open space and tidal marsh restoration, and the remaining half would. become an innovati�e, sustainable transit oriented community leveraging existing proximity fio multi-modal transit opportunities wtth a walkable, mixed-use design at a truly unp�-ecedented scale. II.C�gportunity and Imperative The 50I50 Balanced Plan presents an extraordinary opportunity for the eitizens of Redwovd City. In no other geographic region, perhaps, are there such strong � convictions for both enviro.nmental conservation and p�ogressive, sustainable urban (iv'rng. Both are realized in a harmonized a�d integrated manner under the 5Q/50 Balanced Plan.
