The Communi#y Schools were established to acti�e{y involve <br /> Redwood City residents, educators and human services praviders in supporting <br /> neighborhood chifdren to become successful learners. The Community Schools provide <br /> integra#ed support fvr children and families, including heaith services, family support <br /> senrices, parent-community partnerships, adult educafion, and after-school programs. <br /> This program is o�erseen by the Redwood City School Distric# and supported by <br /> Redwood City 2�2fl. The Community Schools reach students and their famsiies �n a way <br /> that few programs are abie to do because they are strategically linked fio the schvol <br /> communities they senre. <br /> The �ity, County; and District are funding the core opera�ions of the Community <br /> Schools with $1�0,00� from the City, $113,676 �F�om the County, and $9D,Q00 from the <br /> District for fiscal year 20�912�1 Q. <br /> Additional funds include: $75,00� from the Grove Foundativn; $75,OOa from fihe Silicon <br /> Vaiiey Community Foundation; $180,DD0 from the Ca�ifornia Depa�tment of Education; <br /> $25,OOD from the United Vllay of the Bay Area; and the After School Education and <br /> Safety (ASES} and 21 S# Cen�ury Grant. <br /> The agreement between the C�ty, the County and the Dis�rict is interdependen�: if any <br /> one of the partners does not enter into the agreement and does not cvntribute, then the <br /> remaining parties could withdraw th�ir contributions. Ai� partners have agreed to <br /> continue their contributions for the upcoming year. At �his time staff is reque�ting that <br /> Council appro�e #he amendrnent to the agreemen� allowing the services to cantinue for <br /> �sca� year 2009I2�'i 4. The initial agreement approved on August 25, 2008 included <br /> funding #or fisca� year 2048/20�9, and provided for conceptual appro�al for f�scal year <br /> 200912010. S#aff is now asking �hat Counci! approve the amendment which provides <br /> funding far fiscal year 20�9I2010. <br />
