Saltworks, L..�.C., _ - <br /> and that the Jarvis Fay et al iaw firm be retained for both assignments. <br /> BACKGR4UND <br /> �enerai Ptan <br /> In early z008, the City began fhe process of drafting and deve(oping a "New" Generaf <br /> Plan for the �ifiy of Red�rvoQd City. �uring t he ensuing time, t h�r� has be e n m u ch <br /> speculation and debate on #he [�nd use designations and long-#erm land use planning <br /> for the Cargill property, some 1,43� acres, ad�acent to the southern edge of Seaport <br /> �oufevard. <br /> �n January 26, 2009, the City Council determined �hat any changes to the land use <br /> policies applicable #o these lands should be considered and implemented in a <br /> subsequenf planning process, after the New Gene�-a! Plan is complete, in order to al[ow <br /> for more in-depth study. Consequently, the applicabie descriptions, definitions, and <br /> policies from the 1990 General P1an remain in effect for the Cargill salt crysta�iizers, and <br /> will be afitached as �n appendix tv the New General Pian. Furthermore, �he Nerrv <br /> General Plan does not es#ablish any new goais, poiicies, implementafiion programs or <br /> other types of regulations for the Gargill lands. <br /> Pursuant to the City Counci!'s determination, the New (20D9— and no►nr in fuil draft form) <br /> General Plan carries fvrward �he 4pen Space and Urban Reserve land use <br /> designations assigned to the Cargill p�roperfiy by the 1990 General Plan, and wrich �re <br /> shown on the 1994 General i�lan Land Use Map.
