<br />Ii <br /> <br />DES:mf 4/14/81 <br /> <br />8834 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br />APR 2 0 1981 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />--------- <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ENDORSING GENERAL CONCEPT OF COOPERATIVE <br />PROPOSALS FOR DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Steering Committee representing local public <br /> <br />agencies in San Mateo County for the implementation of the <br /> <br />County's Solid Waste Management Plan has submitted its <br /> <br />recommendations to this Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said recommendations include (1) a commitment <br /> <br />to the use of a solid waste transfer station to be constructed <br /> <br />by the City's current franchisee for the disposal of solid wastes; <br /> <br />(2) the formation of a public agency, pursuant to joint exercise <br /> <br />of powers agreement, to provide an organization for the disposal <br /> <br />of solid wastes collected by the franchisees of the constituent <br /> <br />public entities of said agency within the County; and (3) provision <br /> <br />for franchise rate increases to provide a reasonable rate of return <br /> <br />on the investment of the owner and operator of the aforementioned <br /> <br />transfer station; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed the aforementioned Steering <br /> <br />Committee's report and recommendations and desires to endorse the <br /> <br />general concept thereof; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. This Council does hereby endorse the general concept of <br /> <br />the cooperative proposals for the disposal of solid wastes in <br /> <br />the County of San Mateo and the City of Redwood City set forth in <br /> <br />the report dated March 2, 1981, of the Solid Waste Management <br /> <br />Steering Committee pursuant to the Solid Waste Management Plan <br /> <br />for San Mateo County, and hereby evidences its intention to <br /> <br />cooperate with the other local public agencies involved, subject <br /> <br />8 83 4 <br />
