<br />E:ROPOSED <br />MA:RCH 1981 <br /> <br />BUILDING MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direction, supervises the work of building maintenance and <br />custodial personnel; does related work as required. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Plans, schedules and supervises the work of the building maintenance <br />and. custodial personnel in maintaining City buildings and equipment; <br />prepares work schedule~ and assigns employees to work sites, makes. <br />inspections of buildings and equipment to determine condition and need <br />for maintenance or repairs; instructs in mechanical, electrical, car- <br />pentry and other repairs to be made and assists employees with the more <br />difficult repairs; trains and evaluates the work of as~igned employees; <br />keeps records and makes reports of maintenance and repair work completed; <br />makes drawings and sketches of construction and repair projects and <br />may write specifications for repairs and services to be performed by <br />contractors; inspects new construction under contract to insure com- <br />pliance with architectural drawings and specifications; prepares records <br />of materials ordered and used in repair, maintenance and construction <br />projects. <br /> <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />"Thorough knowledge of the practices, tools, terminology and safety <br />precautions"of two or more of the constru-ction-trades; ability to <br />follow oral and written directions; ability to get along well with <br />others; ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications; <br />ability to layout and supervise the work of others; good physical <br />condition. <br /> <br />ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br /> <br />Considerable experience as a skilled maintenance worker including <br />supervisory experience and completion of high school; or any equivalent <br />combination of experience and training which provides the required <br />knowledge, skills and abilities.- <br /> <br />"EXHIBIT A" <br />
