<br />, <br /> <br />f'ebruary 1981 <br /> <br />SENIOR SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under supervision, performs a variety of clerical and school crossing <br />duties including acting as a lead crossing guardj performs related <br />work as required. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Serves as a police information clerk dispensing routine law enforcement <br />information to the publicj types forms, letters, invoices, records, <br />reports, index cards and similar materialsj files correspondence, memo- <br />randa, reports, police records and other materials and searches files <br />for materialsj acts as receptionist directing callers to the proper <br />person or officej plans and leads school crossing activitiesj gives in- <br />structions to and prepares work schedules for school crossing guardsj <br />insures established rules and policies are followedj instructs sub- <br />ordinates in proper safety precautions to protect children from injury <br />while at crossingsj tabulates statistical data and incorporates it in <br />periodical reports. <br /> <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />Some knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipmentj skill <br />in the operation of a typewriterj ability to type from clear copy or <br />rough draft at a reasonable rate of speedj ability to understand and <br />follow simple oral and w~itten directionsj ability to write legibly; <br />ability to lead othersj clerical aptitudej mental alertnessj tact and <br />courtesy. <br /> <br />ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br /> <br />Completion of high school and some experience in dealing with the <br />public.
