08/24/2009 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14963 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />AGREEMENT IN CONNECTION WITH THE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT 2820 HUNTINGTON AVENUE FOR TRANSITIONAL HOUSING <br />(SERVICE LEAGUE OF SAN MATEO COUNTY) <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and .Section 24 of <br />the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 570.201(a) for the Community <br />Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), funding assistance may be used to <br />fund eligible activities to be carried out by private non - profit entities or public <br />agencies which are duly organized to undertake affordable permanent and <br />transitional housing development services; and <br />WHEREAS, the Consolidated Plan and Housing Element goals of the City <br />of Redwood City ( "City ") include expanding the supply of affordable housing for <br />Redwood City households who are low income and special needs populations; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Service League of San Mateo County has applied for <br />funding assistance under the CDBG Program to acquire land privately owned <br />and located at 2820 Huntington Avenue, in the unincorporated area of the City of <br />Redwood City (the "Property "); and <br />WHEREAS, Service League of San Mateo County has entered into a <br />contract to purchase the Property; and <br />WHEREAS, Service League of San Mateo County proposes to acquire <br />residential property to be used to provide supportive transitional housing for very <br />ATTY /RESO /RESO.1939 14963 <br />081909 MUFF # 304 <br />
