Exercise caution when
opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders.
Dear City Council, Mayor,
After two years of discussion, the town of Redwood City has been stricken with an insidious
"climate change" in the form of a new council trying to overturn ADU decisions that had
been already resolved.
I ask you to adopt the ordinance passed by the prior City Council which would have
limited detached ADUs to 16 -feet tall / one-story along the fence line.
There should not be separate deeds for detached ADU's. No 60% FAR's or exemptions to
lot coverage requirements. No airBnB type short-term rentals. No lax building codes.
Existing 2nd story ADU's over 16 ft should be counted as part the property's FAR (floor
area ratio) and limited as the prior council concluded. There never should have been any
allowance for picture windows vs. clerestory bearing down on neighbors thus devaluing
their quality of life, property and general neighborhoods.
To the 5 council members who are in embedded with the developers' unrelenting and
unbalanced thirst to build as much as possible, as densely as possible, and suck as much
profit away from Redwood City as possible - are as blind as the developers who know the
price of everything and value of nothing. You deeply fail our community with decisions
based on false premises and limited understanding that we are a global market —
maximizing every inch to build will not create an affordable housing model given the
constant influx of transients — you are on a fool's journey believing it will. In the process,
you will convert what good we do have left into crude, shanty town neighborhoods. What
do you think you are truly accomplishing?
Stop and Think,
K. Saucier
