Adopt a resolution establishing the City Council Sub -Committee on Equity and Social Justice; and <br />2. Adopt a resolution establishing the Police Advisory Committee. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Equity <br />BACKGROUND <br />The proposed creation of a City Council Equity and Social Justice Sub -Committee and a Police Advisory <br />Committee were originally scheduled for consideration by the City Council on January 25, 2021 but City <br />Council consideration was postponed to March 8, 2021. This staff report expands on the previous staff <br />report with additional background information. <br />Status Update on Policing Initiatives <br />In recent months, the Redwood City Police Department has continued to make progress on policing <br />matters of interest to the community. <br />• Revisions to policies related to de-escalation, use of force and other policing practices were <br />completed through a comprehensive update to the Police Department Policy Manual and posted <br />online. <br />• Body Worn Cameras were purchased, the associatedop licy was updated, and a community <br />meeting was held to share current information and answer questions related to the Body Worn <br />Camera program. <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />32 <br />
