6.A. - Page 3 of 20 <br />outreach meetings to engage the public in the redistricting process. Of those additional meetings, staff <br />intends to conduct one meeting in each of the seven City Council districts to ensure all members of the <br />community have an opportunity to participate. <br />The agreement includes the option for two online public mapping tools that will allow members of the <br />public to submit their own maps for consideration. Both online mapping tools are available and the City <br />may choose to use one or both depending on the need. <br />The agreement also includes the option to collaborate with Imprenta Communications to support the <br />City's communication and outreach efforts throughout the redistricting process. This includes translation <br />of all materials in Spanish and Mandarin as well as multilingual translation services at community <br />meetings. <br />Following the approval of the agreement, Redistricting Partners will meet with the City Council's <br />Governance Sub -Committee to discuss the redistricting process options and timeline so that the <br />Governance Sub -Committee may make a recommendation to the full Council. The full City Council is <br />scheduled to receive a presentation and discuss the upcoming redistricting process and proposed project <br />timeline at the April 26 City Council Meeting. At that meeting, staff will seek direction from the City Council <br />as to which redistricting process will be used. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The redistricting process the City Council selects, whether it is the City Council, Committee or Commission <br />approach, will dictate the exact cost for consulting services. Staff recommends proceeding with a not to <br />exceed amount of $127,000 for demographer services and additional redistricting support.
