We are submitting costs for a new cab chassis without exception. And <br />submitting costs and description for a new Effer model 215/6S articulating crane <br />exceeds the specifications, performance, and safety for the intended use of cleaning <br />creek areas. While this might first look like numerous exceptions, if one is to read our <br />reply in depth, and the following features and benefits, I am sure you and your users will <br />realize that our submittal will offer a safe machine, provide ease of operation, and low <br />cost of ownership that will give many years of service to the City of Redwood City. <br />Following the general format of the specifications I am submitting the following <br />comments for your review: <br />1. Engine RPM is automatically controlled by the crane requirements. No need for <br />operator input for maximum performance. Engage the PTO and the unit controlss <br />RPM from there. <br />2. Crane operator can stand on ground, or at any vantage point, using the radio <br />remote controls. No need to stand next to or on the truck, smelling exhaust, noise <br />and heat. Enhanced communication between crew members when the crane <br />operator is standing in the most advantageous place to view the target for <br />loading and grabbing debris. Possible elimination of a signal person. <br />3. Boom sections are manufactured from very high tensile strength steel, 160,000 <br />PSI steel is utilized, the highest rating in the current crane market. The boom <br />sections are one piece, six sided with only one weld continuous inside and <br />outside. This means that the crane, is lighter yet stronger than other types of <br />boom profiles. <br />241 <br />
