The SRO also spends time mentoring <br />at-risk youth. This officer has a flexible schedule to provide a police presence at after hour school <br />activities and special events. The school relies heavily on the SRO and without this officer present will <br />likely summon the on-duty beat officer repeatedly during the officer's work week. Juvenile matters <br />often take a considerable amount of time to attend to and the beat officer will therefore spend an <br />inordinate amount of time on campus diminishing the time spent policing the beat he/she is assigned <br />to. <br /> <br />14 <br />
