<br />REPORT <br /> <br />6.2A <br />age 1 <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Ci Mana er <br /> <br />September 14, 2009 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance of 2005-2006 Cost Shared Sidewalk Repair Project, Amendment <br />No.2, JJR Construction, Inc. of San Mateo, CA <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept by motion the completed improvements constructed during the period of time <br />covered under Amendment No.2 to the 2005-2006 Cost Shared Sidewalk Repair <br />Project, from JJR Construction, Inc., San Mateo, CA and release retention in the <br />amount of $58,229.43 withheld during this period's course of construction in accordance <br />with City procedure. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 5, 2006, the City awarded the 2005-2006 Cost Shared Sidewalk Repair <br />contract to JJR Construction Inc. of San Mateo, CA for their bid of $463,700. The <br />original agreement includes the option for two extensions using the Consumer Price <br />Index to adjust bid item amounts. Amendment No. 1 was entered into and made <br />effective June 8, 2007, for the amount of $463,700, the same amount as in the initial <br />agreement. On June 9, 2008, Council approved Amendment No.2 of the 2005-2006 <br />Cost Shared Sidewalk Repair Program in the amount of $476,683. All of the work <br />required during Amendment No. 2 has been performed to City standards. Work was <br />completed at 100 sites, eight wheelchair ramps were constructed and 32 tree wells <br />were constructed. The total amount of the initial agreement and the two amendments is <br />$1,404,283. During these contract periods, the work performed exceeded the three <br />contract amounts by $153,471 or approximately 10.90/0. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />City Council could decide to not accept this project.
