Exercise caution when opening attachments or <br />clicking links, especially from unknown senders. <br />TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN @ Redwood City Council Meeting: <br />I am a Redwood City resident and is also an essential "Frontline Grocery worker" at a Safeway Supermarket in the <br />San Mateo County. <br />As an essential worker, I do not have any choices but to risk my live and earn paycheck to support my family and <br />livelihood. <br />Am grateful to have a job rather than being unemployed <br />1) Safeway Supermarket had been earning "Huge" profits at the Corporate Level. Store Management (Store <br />DIrector and Assistant Store Director) had been receiving HUGE QUARTERLY BONUS checks in meeting payroll <br />and sales goals. Drive Up and Go program earns substantial profits and skyrocket business (similar to Amazon and <br />Instacart deliveries) <br />Only time Safeway employees receive "Hazard Pay extra $2 per hour" were in May 2020 and June 2020 when <br />COVIDI9 pandemic started. <br />2) Safeway Management had only scheduled employees minimum # of hours per UFCW5 contract. <br />3) Another tactic Safeway Management and Corporate level is using is to schedule employees with "Junior <br />Seniority" on weekly schedule. <br />"Junior Seniority" employees had a lower hourly rate which equates to smaller weekly payroll expense. <br />By doing so, Store Management can meet weekly payroll goal and receive bonuses. <br />4) Our store location had so many COVIDI9 positive employees since the pandemic started in March 2020. Info <br />was kept "hush hush" out of public eye. <br />I am urging Redwood City Council to support and pass "Extra $5 PER HOUR Hazard Pay" for grocery workers <br />retroactively to July 2020. <br />Thank you for your time and support to the essential front line workers. <br />Sincerely, <br />Pam <br />429 <br />
