From: -
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: City Council Public Comment: 7.A. - Zoning Ordinance amendments related to Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU).
Date: Monday, April 12, 20213:20:45 PM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when
opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders.
Good afternoon,
I am writing about agenda item 7.A. - Zoning Ordinance amendments related to Accessory Dwelling
Units (ADU).
Before I start my comment, I want to first thank the current city council for overturning the vote on
ADUs that the previous council implemented last year. I know affordable housing was a foundational
component of many of our council members' campaigns, and their continued dedication to this
cause has not gone unnoticed.
Unfortunately, affordable housing is still an issue for many residents of our city. I have had several
friends and associates move away because they could not afford to remain here. We are losing too
many friends, family and community members because of skyrocketing rents and limited housing.
Although they won't entirely fix this issue, ADUs can certainly help, and I urge the council to make
their construction as easy as possible.
Once again, I'd like to thank our city council members for their support of ADUs. Let's make
Redwood City an example to follow in the Bay Area when it comes to affordable housing.
Thank you,
Emil Hanscom
