Exercise caution when <br />opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. <br />Hello Councilmembers, <br />I waited until far past l OPM tonight to get a chance to speak regarding hazard pay, as I am <br />myself an essential worker. I raised my hand at the correct time (before Jordan Grimes); <br />however, I was overlooked and not allowed to speak. Here is my public comment: <br />I urge the city council to adopt the proposed hazard pay ordinance and urgency ordinance, <br />with some amendments or perhaps additional ordinances in the near future. The proposed <br />hazard pay ordinance is the least we can do for our workers in this pandemic. These grocery <br />and drugstore workers deserve hazard backpay in addition to what is being offered in these <br />ordinances. Also, these ordinances should be amended so that they also apply to restaurant <br />workers, who are also being exposed to unsafe working conditions in this pandemic. If <br />possible, I would like to see the city council adopt an Urgency Ordinance which accounts for <br />more grocery store workers, more drug store workers, and restaurant workers of all kinds. Our <br />concern should be for the workers who are affected by the conditions of the pandemic - not for <br />the businesses concerned with their bottom line.
