6.1. - Page 1 of 145 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: April 26, 2021 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Purchase of one Freightliner cab and chassis with an articulating aerial device <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement to purchase one LR8-60RM <br />articulating over -center aerial device on a Freightliner M2-106 cab chassis in the amount of $264,663 from <br />Altec Industries, Inc. of Birmingham, AL. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City's (City) Fleet Replacement Program provides a structure for evaluating vehicles and <br />equipment to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre - <br />designated intervals, vehicles and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation, including but not limited to <br />age, mileage, condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage, and vehicle <br />capabilities. This program also assists user departments in evaluating their fleet asset deployment <br />strategies to maximize operational efficiency. <br />The Right of Way Division (Division) of the Public Works Services Department performs routine <br />maintenance on City -owned trees annually. Maintenance activities primarily consist of pruning, removing, <br />and replacing trees on City -owned property or the public right-of-way. Some trees requiring regular <br />pruning can reach heights that are inaccessible without the use of motorized lifts.
