Summary <br />The City, through its 2018-2022 Consolidated Plan, examined the needs of the community and ways to <br />create more affordable housing. Several factors influence the degree of demand, or "need," for housing <br />in Redwood City. The four major needs categories considered in this report, consistent with State law, <br />include: <br />• Housing needs resulting from population growth, both in the city and the surrounding region <br />• Housing needs resulting from the overcrowding of units <br />• Housing needs that result when households pay more than they can afford for housing <br />• Housing needs of "special needs groups" such as elderly, large families, female -headed <br />The City will spend the next program year striving to meet the needs in the community by funding <br />projects and programs serving low-income households and individuals, especially those that are unable <br />to afford acceptable housing. The City, through the use of CDBG and HOME funds, will support <br />affordable housing preservation, public services for the most vulnerable residents, microenterprise <br />assistance, public facility improvements, and minor home repairs to improve accessibility for <br />homeowners. <br />Annual Action Plan <br />2021 <br />OMB Control No: 2506-0117 (exp. 06/30/2018) <br />7 <br />424 <br />
