04/26/2021 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. 202.1 Advisory Redistricting Committee. The Advisory Redistricting <br />Committee (hereinafter the "Committee"), consisting of eleven (11) community <br />representatives is hereby established. All appointments to the Committee will be made <br />by a majority of the City Council. Seven (7) of the Committee members shall be appointed <br />from each of the City's seven (7) City Council election districts, and four (4) Committee <br />members shall be appointed at large, resulting in a total of eleven (11) Committee <br />members. It is a desire of the City Council that the Committee reflect the diversity of the <br />community. <br />2. Members. All members must be residents of incorporated Redwood City <br />and eligible electors throughout the duration of their term. In compliance with Election <br />Code Section 23002, the following individuals are not permitted to serve as members: a <br />person who is an elected official of the local jurisdiction, a family member of an elected <br />official of the local jurisdiction, an elected official's staff member, or paid campaign staff <br />of an elected official of the local jurisdiction. <br />3. Term. The Advisory Redistricting Committee is temporary in duration and <br />shall dissolve automatically after the City Council of Redwood City takes final action on <br />the City Council district boundaries, no later than April 17, 2022. <br />4. Meetings. The Committee shall meet at such times as may be necessary. <br />All meetings shall be open to the public and governed by the provisions of the Ralph M. <br />Brown Act, Government Code Section 54950, et seq. Additionally, in compliance with <br />California Elections Code Section 21628, the Committee shall publish the date, time, and <br />location for any public hearing or workshop on the internet at least five days before the <br />hearing or workshop. <br />5. Officers. The Committee shall elect a chairperson who shall preside at all <br />meetings. The Committee may elect such other officers, as it deems appropriate for the <br />conduct of its business. <br />6. Duties. The Committee shall be an advisory body to the City Council of the <br />City of Redwood City. The Committee shall collect community of interest testimony, draft <br />preliminary maps, seek public input on draft maps, host public engagement hearings <br />throughout all seven City Council districts, and recommend a district map to the City <br />Council no later than December 6, 2021. <br />7.
