19 <br /> <br />N. Euthanasia <br />Contractor will: <br />1. Provide for the humane euthanasia and disposal of animals determined to be <br />unhealthy, aggressive, or untreatable as determined by California law. <br />O. Owner-requested euthanasia <br />Contractor will: <br />1. Follow the basic matrix definition of Owner-Requested Euthanasia. Contractor will pursue all reasonable measures to verify animal ownership prior to <br />euthanasia. <br />3. Record and classify animals in the Chameleon software and in Live Release Rate <br />calculations as “Owner Intended Euthanasia” if they are brought in to the shelter by their <br />owners with the specific intention of using the Owner Requested Euthanasia service. <br />When an owner wishes to surrender an animal for adoption and that animal is deemed <br />unhealthy and untreatable, or aggressive after counseling by Contractor’s staff based on <br />information provided by the owner and the owner elects to surrender the animal for <br />euthanasia, euthanasia service will be provided and will be classified as “Owner <br />Surrender Euthanasia.” <br />4. Decline to provide the owner-requested euthanasia service to treatable animals and <br />will instead either accept and treat those animals, provide resources so the owner so they <br />can keep and treat their animal, or refer the owner to another organization that will assist <br />the pet owner, so they can treat the animal. <br />5. Offer private owner-requested euthanasia (including pet-owner witnessed euthanasia, <br />when requested with regard to non-aggressive animals only) as a service at the County <br />Shelter, if the animal is deemed unhealthy and untreatable, or aggressive. <br />P. Documentation <br />Contractor will: <br />1. Accurately complete, sign, and submit all necessary documentation of compliance in a <br />timely manner. <br />Q. Adoption of animals <br />Contractor may: <br />1. Arrange adoptions onsite at the County Shelter to reduce the length of stay for animals <br />and have other approaches to adoptions such as transferring animals from the County <br />Shelter and moving them to their non-profit shelter or partner organizations for adoption. <br />There is no set number of animals that need to remain up for adoption at any point in <br />time at the County Shelter. <br />Contractor will: <br /> <br /> <br />   <br />   <br />
