AND UnITfD nHlIons <br />HPPfHL fOR CHILDRfn <br /> <br />YUKON 6-4139 <br /> <br />f\ ~ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN CONNECTION WITH UNITED NArrIONS <br /> <br />APPEAL FOH CHILDREN <br /> <br />~'Vhereas, the Uni ted Nations upon authority of the Grand Assembly has <br />sponsored the United Nations Appeal for Children among the United Nations, <br /> <br />for the purpose of financing the approved project of the International <br /> <br /> <br />-Children's Emergency Fund and the approved projects of twenty-five long <br /> <br />established and recognized overseas agencies and <br /> <br />Wgereas these projects are to. provide emergency food, clothing, shelter <br /> <br /> <br />and medicine to the more than 2)0 million destitute children in overseas <br /> <br />war-ravaged countries whose survival depends upon the success of this <br />international effort and <br /> <br />Whereas, the President of the United States and the State Department for <br />q <br /> <br />our government has called upon the citizens of the United states to raise <br /> <br />through volunteer, non-governmental sources 60 million dollars as its <br /> <br />proportionate share in the world-wide campaign and <br />Whereas, the Governor of our own State of California has called upon the <br />m~nicipal officialsof California to take the initiative in bringing this <br />appeal to the citizens of our city, now <br />Therefore be it Resolved: That the City Council authorize the Mayor of <br />Hedwood City or a member of the aouncil to act as chairman of the United <br /> <br />Nations Appeal for Children in Redwood City and <br /> <br />~113 <br />
